Not my cup of tea!

Yes, tea is simply not my cup of tea. I just hate it. But my husband is a big big fan of tea and sadly my everyday starts with making tea for him. I am still wondering how to avoid it ;)  If you like tea, here are few simple ways to make it more interesting. You can add a pinch of grated ginger or 1/2 chopped mint leaves or home-made tea masala – grounded powder of black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves.

I do use tea but for a different reason. Not because it rejuvenates my mind but it does rejuvenate my hair. It’s a perfect solution to give your hair a break from chemicals while also giving a powerful natural herbal treatment.  So next time when you are brewing up a cup of tea for yourself, consider using it for your hair and enjoy the benefits twice all over.

Black Tea Hair Rinse –  Make an infusion of  4 table spoons of black tea powder in 2 cups of water. Boil the mixture and then let it steep for 1 hour. Stain and pour over hair. Let it remain on your hair for 20 minutes and then rinse it with herbal shampoo. Tea is known to have a soothing effect on hair and it also provide a natural shine to damaged hair.

I always envy my mom’s natural black hair. She has maintained the color even at her age without using any chemical colors. I am now unveiling her secret –

Hair Darkening Treatment – Tea and especially Sage Tea is an ideal natural treatment to help darken grey hair. For best results make an infusion of 3 tea spoons of Shikekai ( Acacia concinna ), 3 tea spoons of Aamla powder, 2 tea spoons of tea powder, 2/3 dried curry leaves and 1 tea-spoon on sesame seeds in 3 cups of water. Boil the mixture and keep it aside in an iron pot ( लोखंडी कढले ) for three nights. Use it after shampoo and leave it on your hair for some time. Use it once a week and you will see the results within three months.

One of my friends from Saudi Arabia once told me that they use tea powder as a medicine to stop bleeding. Hmmm, so now you have one more reason to brag about benefits of tea!
